Kathy
G. Eddy, past Chairman of
the 330,000-member American Institute of Certified Public Accountants
(AICPA).
FULL TEXT OF PRESS RELEASE
Continuing her involvement with AICPA and her dedication to the accounting profession, she recently accepted the position of leading the AICPA Special Committee on State Regulation, which is tasked with addressing the state implications of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, recommending positions to the AICPA Board of Directors and providing resources and guidance to states that encounter state legislative or regulatory proposals.
In writing the documents, the Special Committee identified three overarching themes: (1) the profession should advocate for a reasoned approach to reform at the state level, (2) uniformity of state laws is essential to protecting the public interest, and (3) the complexity of the issues need to be articulated and communicated. The AICPA Special Committee on State Regulation recently released the first edition of “A Reasoned Approach to Reform.” The Committee’s effort is an evergreen compendium of white papers and issue briefs, and will be supplemented as other state issues develop. The full set of white papers and issues briefs can be viewed Here.
